The European Conference on Plasma Diagnostics (ECPD) is a bi-annual event which aims at bringing together physicists or other scientists working on diagnostics for magnetic confinement fusion, beam plasmas and inertial fusion, low-temperature and industrial plasmas, and basic and astrophysical plasmas.
The second edition of the Conference took place in Bordeaux, France, from 18th to 21st of April 2017. More than 170 scientists from all over Europe and overseas took part in this event. This followed the first successful 1.5 day pilot meeting, organized as satellite to the main European Physical Society (EPS) Conference on Plasma Physics in Helsinki in 2013. After this, the EPS gave the green light for organizing the 1st European Conference on Plasma Diagnostics, held in April 2015 in Frascati (Rome), Italy.
The third edition will be held in Lisbon in Spring 2019 (dates to be announced). The ECPD will take place in alternate years with respect to the HTPD conference in the USA.
At the 2nd ECPD, 3 prizes (350 EUR/each, sponsored by EPS) were attributed to the best student posters. The prized students were:
